Goodness gracious me!
It has been entirely too long since last I posted… Well, I’m back! Yes, I have finally returned to the land of tropical waters and boy do I have a lot of photos backed up…
2 Gigs if I’m not mistaken…
I’ll be working on that.
I’ll save you from a disjointed rant about the prices of air travel.
I should be given a prize for how many planes I’ve been on in the past two years.
Just with United Airlines alone, I’ve accumulated over 25,000 frequent flyer miles. Yes, that is the circumference of the Earth.
Just wanted to point that out.
I’m in Las Vegas now, enjoying the free internet to disguise my dread of waking up in the morning to go to work.
In other news, I still have a ton of photos to upload to the site… I’m thinking that it may never happen if I have any intent to remain lazy the next week before I leave. Oh well?
… Okay, I’ll try. But I make no promises.
Yes, it has been awhile. And as most of you could suspect, this has a lot to do with my occupation (ha, I love being able to pawn off procrastination).
I have just returned to Japan from a miniature trip to the Philippines once again for our government to proverbially shake hands. As before, I participated in another community relations project and had a lovely time doing it.
We worked at a mission comprised of 300 relocated citizens from the Mount Pinatubo eruption several years back.
The mission itself, nestled away in the mountain valleys outside Subic, was a small area made up of a chapel, a school, a community center, and a medical center for the Aeta who used to live in the vacinity of the active volcano (I met one particular woman 100 years old!).
We cleaned, painted, and provided school supplies as well as toys for the many children that were there. We also made basketball and vollyball courts (eqipment provided as well).
I’m sure there will be pictures, because the ship’s photographers were running around the whole time; it’s just a matter of getting them.
Now, I’m awaiting my next destination before I get to fly back to Hawaii for a short time. I’ve also been told that I’m switching over to the night shift tomorrow for the durration of the trip. That may or may not mean cheat-chatting with some of you… So keep a look out anyhow.
